So, then, if anyone here uses Dreamweaver, do you use templates for your web design? Most sites that I have done recently have used templates, but they wind me up a little because they don't always quite *work*, and there are always kludges to get add-ons working, or so it seems to me.

I use a lot of Project Seven stuff, and I always seem to have to be digging in the code to get things to work when using templates. Now, I don't mind coding (ask Rich!) and I will happily swap bits with the best of them, but the whole point of a WYSIWYG package like Dreamweaver is that it should just let you get ON - and the templates just don't crack it for me.

Sometime, shock, horror, I even yearn for the days when we all used Frames - who cares if you get stuck in mine, buster, that's what I say! ;) 8-)

I do use the template feature but don't use and supplied templates, I just build my own.

Yeah, I build my own too.

What I meant was that they can be a hassle when using plugins supplied by third parties. What can happen, often, is that you end up with a plugin that puts code into various places, and you end up having to build up editable regions around it to get it to work.

Hmm, I've changed my mind. I was using the default (first option in teh drop down list in DW8) template which is, in fact, a JS template.

Re-building and using a "Basic HTML" template and all my problems of plugins giving me errors about locked regions dissapear.

Ho hum, that's wasted too much of my time over the last year.
